Boat trip to Thorn and Stevensweert
The Paep van Meinecom III will take you on this unique tour of Marec lakes. The boat has 120 covered seats. In July and August 'De Paep' (otherwise known as the Pope) sets off at fixed times towards the Dutch towns of Thorn and Stevensweert. A great idea for a daytrip.
Adventurepark De Warre
In the heart of some magnificent nature and amidst all the trees you’ll find yourself in Klimpark De Warre (Climbing Park De Warre) and Grote Apenavontuur (Big Monkey Adventure). If you are a fan of heights, climbing, adventure and excitement then the climbing park is certainly something for you. If you wish to combine your stay at Hotel Van Eyck with team-building activities, then the Grote Apenavontuur is most suitable. In addition to these two main activities there are also lots of other possibilities, including archery, a live football game and volleyball.
Watermills in the Oeter valley
There are 12 watermills along the Bos or Oeterbeek stream near Maaseik. The stream probably houses the most mills in the entire province. Whether they be grain or saw mills, they bear witness to the illustrious past and are of interest to all generations. The Klaaskensmolen and Neermolen mills are both open to the public. The Klaaskensmolen is an oil mill dating back to 1548 where you can see how the authentic manner in which planks were sawed. The Neermolen is a grain mill. Here a guide will tell you how the grain was milled into flour. The millers will then put the words into action.
